Northern Corridor records RM7.8b investments from private sector

PUTRAJAYA: The Northern Corridor (Koridor Utara) has attracted RM7.8 billion worth of investments from the private sector in first half of this year.

The manufacturing sector remained key driver in Koridor Utara due to the region's appealing support structures, facilities and services that were developed as the foundation to spur manufacturing capabilities.

Northern Corridor Implementation Authority (NCIA) chief executive Datuk Redza Rafiq said it was upbeat by the continued growth momentum.

"We are committed to working harder to achieve if not surpass our KPIs," he said after the NCIA 14th council meeting chaired by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

Witnessed by the prime minister, Aerospace Composites Malaysia Sdn Bhd, BHIC Marine Technology Academy Sdn Bhd, Gading Kencana Sdn Bhd and QDOS Holdings Bhd exchanged collaborative agreements with NCIA.

Under the agreement, the companies will be setting up new initiative and facilities within the region that will result in a significant volume of spillover effects such as highly skilled and specialised talent creation and development; logistics enhancement as well as contract manufacturing and business development opportunities.
